300 Cubic Meters SS304 IMTP Random Packing Shipped to European Refineries to Boost Efficiency and Compliance

The past month has seen the successful delivery of approximately 300 cubic metres of IMTP random packing manufactured from SS304 stainless steel to several refineries within Europe; this specific shipment represents a significant partnership between Chinese manufacturers of tower packing material and European producers of petroleum products. The shipment will allow European refineries to improve their ability to process materials and will fulfil the rigorous standards related to energy conservation, protection of the environment, and high purity separation and will provide important assistance in improving the mass transfer process at their refineries as a whole.

With the addition of the ring to the saddle, IMTP has become the next generation of random packing. As a third generation product of high efficiency metallic random packings, IMTP random packing has brought distillation, absorption, and gas sweetening to new levels of performance, due to the many benefits that have been derived from the ring/saddle combination of its structure.

This lot of 300 cubic meters is manufactured with quality SS304 stainless steel and has undergone rigorous quality inspection in accordance with HG/T 21554.2-95 and has been granted REACH certification from the European Union (EU), as well as the ATEX 2014/34/EU Directive and is fully compliant with all safety and environmental regulations required by the EU.

Outstanding Energy Efficiency

European refineries are facing increasing pressure to optimize energy efficiency and reduce emissions, and the selection of high-performance tower packing is crucial to achieving these goals. SS304 IMTP stands out with its excellent performance: its optimized saddle-shaped structure with ring reinforcements ensures a high void fraction of 96-97%, reducing pressure drop by 30% compared to traditional Pall rings and cutting energy consumption for refinery pumps and fans by 20-60%. Its superior corrosion resistance and thermal stability, withstanding temperatures up to 800°C, also guarantee a service life of over 15 years in harsh refinery environments.

Precision Manufacturing & Size Mix

The shipment, weighing approximately 117 tons, uses a scientific size mix of 38mm and 50mm IMTP packing, adapting processing capacity and mass transfer efficiency to the vacuum distillation and gas sweetening needs of European refineries. During production, automated stamping and forming processes were adopted to ensure dimensional accuracy. Strict XRF spectroscopy testing verifies material composition, and mechanical strength is confirmed to meet the high standards of European refineries.

Seaworthy Export Packaging & Documentation

To ensure safe and intact delivery, the packing was packaged in seaworthy wooden crates with inner moisture-proof plastic wrapping, complying with international export packaging standards. The entire shipment was transported by sea freight, with complete documentation including COC, material test reports and packing lists to facilitate EU customs clearance, following standard marine export procedures for industrial goods.

“We have tailored this batch of SS304 IMTP packing to the specific needs of European refineries, focusing on compliance, energy efficiency and durability. The 300-cubic-meter shipment not only reflects our strength in precision manufacturing but also deepens our cooperation with European petroleum enterprises.” — JXKELLEY, Supplying Manufacturer

Partner pointed out that this cooperation will help European refineries improve separation efficiency, reduce energy consumption and meet strict environmental emission standards, while promoting the global promotion of high-quality Chinese tower packing. The SS304 IMTP packing will be deployed in vacuum distillation columns, amine scrubbing towers and aromatic separation units, providing reliable support for the stable and efficient operation of European refineries.
